Admission

Admission is a conversation, not a test

We want to get to know your child and your family, and to give you a real chance to get to know us. The process exists so that both sides can tell whether this is the right room for your child.

Start the conversation

Every step of this — the call, the visit, the paperwork — can happen in English.

To find your path after school. Find your calling. Change the world.

Five steps

1

A first call

Fifteen minutes. You tell us what you are looking for; we tell you honestly whether we have it.

2

Read and think

We send you what to read and watch. Take your time.

3

Visit the studio

Come with your child while the studio is running. Watching it for an hour explains more than any page on this site.

4

Decide together

We talk it through and both sides decide. A trial week is possible if either of us wants more certainty.

5

Join

Your child joins the studio and starts their own journey.

This is not “apply and enrol”. We choose each other.

Families do best here when they:

Care more about finding out than about being right.

Would rather their child understood something deeply than covered it on time.

Accept that the studio will hold their child to a promise the child made, and will not step in to soften it.

Can watch their child fail at something small without moving in to fix it.

That last one is the hardest, and it is the one parents underestimate. A child who is rescued at home from every consequence they met at school cannot get much out of a room built on consequences.

Tuition, and what it covers

650 EUR a month.

That covers learning materials, a computer at school, and materials for interest-led work.

A second and third child from the same family attend at half price; a fourth child attends at no cost.

Nine places for 2026/27, plus one full scholarship place.

Our larger ambition is that this kind of education is within reach of any family in Latvia that genuinely wants it. So if money is the obstacle, write to us anyway.

For comparison, since families ask: Riga’s international schools published fees in the region of 10,000–22,000 EUR a year for 2026/27. We are not one of them and do not run their programmes. Check any figure directly with the school concerned before deciding anything.

If you are moving here

Some of this process assumes you can walk into the building. If you cannot yet, say so in the first message and we will work around it — the call and the conversation happen over video, and the studio visit waits until you arrive.

Two things worth knowing before you plan around us. Our school year runs from 1 September to early July, which is longer than the Latvian state school year.

Being in the building every one of those days is not the point. Learning here is self-paced, so a child who is away does not fall behind a class — they pick up their own goals where they left them. Families travel during term, and a few weeks somewhere else is usually an education in itself. Tell us when you want to start and we will make it work around your year, not the other way round.

What this school is not

  • Not an international school. Acton Academy Riga is a Latvian school with bilingual learning and a global network behind it. We do not run IB or Cambridge.
  • Not a special-needs school. Many active children do well here, and studios across the network include children with ADHD. But there are no therapists, no special-education staff, and no formal support programme. If a child needs more than we can give, we will say so during admission rather than after.
  • Not a large school. One studio, three places left this year. If your child needs a full sports programme, an orchestra or a language-immersion track, we are not that and are not going to become it.

Show your child what it means to truly love learning.
